Starting July 25, MRT-3 commuters can now enjoy cashless fare payments using the GCash app or any EMV-enabled debit or credit card, including the GCash Visa card. This upgrade adds to the growing list of digital options available for everyday commuters.
Expanded Card Support Across MRT-3
Alongside GCash, Maya users can now tap and pay at any MRT-3 station using various Maya cards—such as the Maya Wallet Card (Visa and Mastercard), Maya Black Credit Card, and the Landers Cashback Everywhere Credit Card. Mastercard users are also supported across the system.
Government and Private Sector Collaboration
This initiative is part of a broader collaboration among the Department of Transportation (DOTr), Bangko Sentral ng Pilipinas (BSP), Department of Information and Communications Technology (DICT), Land Bank of the Philippines (LBP), and key stakeholders. Their shared goal: to modernize public transportation, streamline payments, and increase accessibility for commuters.
How to Use GCash QR at MRT-3:
- Open the GCash app
- Tap “QR”
- Scan the QRPH code at the station and input your fare
This system uses an open-loop payment model, allowing commuters to pay using their existing mobile wallets or bank-issued cards—no need for a separate transit card.
Over 13.4 million Filipinos rely on public transportation daily. This shift to cashless fare payments is a step forward in making commuting more convenient and inclusive.
