Waiting for those missing features? HyperOS 2.1 may deliver them in the coming months.
HyperOS 2.0 isn’t even available to every eligible device and here we are waiting for the next version. Yes, HyperOS 2.1 is already rolling out to those enrolled in the beta testing. But what exactly does this version offer? Is it significant?
Flattened HyperOS 2 for Global
If you’re waiting for HyperOS 2, you’re in for tough luck. Don’t expect anything massive on the global version. The only things worth mentioning from this upgrade are better performance and new animations.

Other than those things, nada! Selective AI features for high-end Xiaomi, Redmi, and POCO devices while none or a few of such on mid-rangers. Many of these mid-rangers have chipsets with a built-in NPU for local AI processing and despite that, the company didn’t bother.
Let’s name a couple of these features. First, the demonstrated Dynamic AI Wallpaper prior to launch. It allows the device to animate a static image using AI, giving a new visual power like live wallpapers. This is currently exclusive to the Chinese ROM.
Second, the Xiaomi HyperAI Engine found under Settings > Accessibility – Although you can toggle it on and off, Xiaomi didn’t specify every single thing it touches within the system. The About section only noted that the accessibility feature can view and control the screen and operate apps based on your instructions.
Perhaps, it will become useful in later builds of HyperOS 2?
HyperOS 2.1 Deployed

The global version of the HyperOS 2.1 is live among testers right now. It will soon be made available to more users, possibly starting next month. As for features, here are some of what we can expect:
- Dynamic Island: HO1 has it already except it’s too conservative that only reacts to a few things. The 2.1 version is claimed to support more, such as incoming calls, music player, flashlight, and simple app notifications.
- New Flashlight: Users can now adjust the flashlight’s intensity. It will now meet the specified illumination demands of users. Want to beam away the darkness? Go max! Want a background light while reading at night? Go low.
- Revamped Game Turbo: Game Turbo on HO1 is wonky and inaccurate. The HO2 version showed major changes, including accurate FPS and better shortcut placements. The 2.1 version is said to include better thermal regulation, but the process behind it is still a mystery.
First Impressions

Yes, we’re getting HyperOS 2.1 because bug fixes and improvements are solely needed; like super! But if you compare the Chinese version of HyperOS, you’ll feel an umbrella of negative emotions. What on earth did Xiaomi do?
A Redditor showed that the version on Redmi K70E is like running HyperOS 4. Animations, performance, and features are clearly in full force while global users are left with crumbs and discrimination.
All three features mentioned earlier are nice and dandy but we wish Xiaomi truly addressed what’s missing. The brand wants to promote its ecosystem yet that principle is broken within the tier of its global devices.

Some things not yet mentioned as available to a wider range of devices in HyperOS 2.1 Global:
- Dynamic AI Wallpaper
- Circle to Search
- AI Subtitles
- Live translation
- Specific functions of the HyperAI Engine
- Fixes and additional support for the AI Image Expansion
- Fixes and improvements for the AI Erase tool
Frustration and disappointment are hitting many international Xiaomi users, thanks to the washed HyperOS 2.0. Some are doing their best to appeal to better treatment while others are silently waiting to see if the brand will stick to this plan.
