Nothing has officially confirmed a major detail about its highly anticipated Phone (3)—the chipset. In a recent X post, the company revealed that the smartphone will be powered by Qualcomm’s Snapdragon 8s Gen 4, a high-performance SoC that brings the Phone (3) closer to flagship-tier performance.
A Big Leap in Power and Efficiency

Compared to the Snapdragon 8+ Gen 1 used in last year’s Phone (2), the Snapdragon 8s Gen 4 offers impressive gains:
- 36% faster CPU
- 88% GPU boost
- 60% NPU performance increase
These figures, confirmed by Nothing’s CEO Carl Pei, hint at a significantly smoother user experience for gaming, multitasking, and AI-driven features.
The chipset includes a Cortex-X4 core clocked at 3.2GHz, paired with several Cortex-A720 and A520 cores, offering near-flagship power while potentially keeping the retail price around $799 (~₹68,000).
Almost Flagship Power, Mid-Flagship Price
While it’s not as premium as the Snapdragon 8 Gen 4 Elite, the 8s Gen 4 still matches the performance of chips seen in devices like the Samsung Galaxy S24 Ultra and the OnePlus 12. It also powers the performance-centric iQOO Neo 10, meaning the Phone (3) won’t be short on speed or responsiveness.
A New Design Direction: Dot-Matrix Display

Leaks suggest a departure from the signature Glyph interface seen on previous models. Instead, the Phone (3) might introduce a dot-matrix display on the rear—a bold move that could open new avenues for personalization and notifications.
This design shift is expected to complement the performance upgrades and signal a new phase for the Nothing brand as it competes with heavy hitters like Samsung’s Galaxy S25 and OnePlus’s next flagship.
Launch Date and Final Thoughts
The official launch event is set for July 1 in London, where Nothing will unveil the Phone (3) in full. With a unique mix of premium performance, AI optimization, and experimental design, the Phone (3) could be Nothing’s most compelling device yet.
Stay tuned as we cover the launch and provide in-depth reviews and comparisons once the Phone (3) is out in the wild.
