Discord messages in Google search results are coming for some servers. Starting in mid-December 2026, messages sent in participating public channels of Discoverable Servers may appear on public server pages and in web search, including Google.
The change does not apply to every Discord conversation. Server administrators choose which channels take part, while members can turn off a setting that allows their own eligible messages to appear. That setting is on by default in most regions, so it is worth checking now.
For Filipino users who rely on Discord for gaming communities, school groups or shared interests, the key questions are whether your server is Discoverable and whether your account setting is on.
What is changing on Discord?
Discord says every Discoverable Server will get a public Server Web Page from November 16, 2026. These pages introduce communities to people browsing the web. They can also show automated summaries of conversations in public channels from that date.
Individual Channel Messages roll out separately from mid-December. If a server allows it, eligible messages from participating public channels can appear on the server page and in web search. Discord says the rollout is gradual, so messages may take a few weeks to show up. Its announcement explains the plan: Making Content from Discoverable Servers Easier to Discover.
Which Discord messages can appear in search?
The feature applies to public channels in Discoverable Servers. Discord says participating channels are labeled with an icon in the channel header, and members see a pop-up before they post. Public threads and forum posts count if their parent channel is eligible. Only text is shown for now.
Direct messages, group chats, private servers, private channels and private threads are excluded. Discord also says messages sent before the mid-December rollout will not be shown.
Usernames and avatars will not appear next to messages on Server Web Pages, according to Discord. That does not make a message anonymous. A person could still include their name or other details in the text itself.
Is the setting on by default?
In most regions, yes. Discord says the member setting is on by default everywhere except the EU and EEA, the UK, Canada, Brazil, Australia and South Korea, where it is off by default. Accounts in the teen age group cannot turn it on. That means accounts in the Philippines are covered by the default unless you change it.
Discord has not announced a separate Philippine launch date. Check the labels and settings in your own account as the feature reaches you.
How to stop your messages from appearing
Discord says the message setting can be changed on a computer or in a browser. It applies across your whole account, including when you use Discord on mobile.
- Open Discord and go to User Settings.
- Select Data & Privacy.
- Turn off “Show my message content from Discoverable channels on web pages.”
One switch covers every Discoverable Server you are in, so you do not need to change it server by server. Discord explains the setting and its limits in its help article.
What if you already sent a message?
Whether a message can appear depends on your setting when you send it. Messages sent while the setting is off will not appear. Messages sent while it was on can still appear on a Server Web Page even after you turn the setting off. Turning it off is not a bulk “remove my history” tool.
To remove a single message, delete it from Discord. Discord says that also removes it from its web pages. Search engines may keep cached or indexed copies for longer, so a deleted message may take time to stop appearing in their results.
This is why checking the setting before the mid-December rollout matters if you do not want future eligible messages shown on the web.
What can server administrators control?
Admins can open Server Settings, choose Web Presence, and pick which public channels take part or opt every channel out. Discord says that if nothing is changed, public channels in a Discoverable Server stay on.
Admins also manage Channel Summaries separately. They can change the source channels, curate the summaries or turn them off. Your personal message setting does not switch summaries off for a server.
Why it matters
Discord communities often hold useful answers about games, devices and shared interests. Making some of those answers searchable could help people find information without joining a server first.
At the same time, a public channel can reach a far wider audience once its messages reach the open web. Before posting in a labeled channel, check the server notice and your account setting. Even without a username, the words of a message can reveal details you did not intend to share broadly.

Frequently asked questions
Will my Discord direct messages appear on Google?
No. Discord says this feature covers eligible public channels in Discoverable Servers. Direct messages, group chats and private channels are excluded.
Will Discord show old messages in search results?
Discord says messages sent before the mid-December rollout will not be shown. Messages sent afterward while the setting is on can remain eligible even if you turn it off later.
Can I change the setting on my phone?
Discord says to change it on desktop or in a browser. The choice applies to your whole account, including on mobile.
Is Discord selling my messages to AI companies?
Discord says no and that nothing has changed. It describes the feature as making content easier to find when admins and users choose to make it available on the web.
