The REDMI 17 series has reported Philippine starting prices of ₱12,999 for the 4G model and ₱14,999 for the 5G version. Both come in a 4GB+128GB configuration, with sales scheduled to begin Oct. 23. Full specs and prices in every country are on our Xiaomi Redmi 17 4G and Xiaomi Redmi 17 5G pages.
Introductory offers reduce those prices to ₱11,999 and ₱13,999. That leaves the same ₱2,000 gap between the phones, but the difference goes beyond network support.

What the extra ₱2,000 changes
Xiaomi lists a Helio G91-Ultra and eMMC 5.1 storage for the Xiaomi Redmi 17 4G. The Xiaomi Redmi 17 5G instead name a Snapdragon 4 Gen 5 and UFS 2.2 storage.
This makes the choice broader than 4G versus 5G. Buyers are comparing different processing and storage platforms, even though the reported local memory capacities match.
Those specifications do not establish how much faster an app opens or how a game performs after an extended session. TechPipino has not tested either phone, so a measured performance advantage remains a question for hands-on evaluation.
For the connectivity decision, consider where you actually use mobile data and whether your plan supports 5G. A higher network specification alone cannot guarantee a better connection on your daily route.
Shared specifications do not remove the trade-offs
Xiaomi’s global specifications for the 4G and 5G give both phones a 7500mAh battery, 45W charging and up to 22.5W wired reverse charging. They also list a 6.9-inch, 1600×720 screen with refresh rates reaching 120Hz in supported apps.
Refresh rate describes how often the screen updates. It does not change the listed resolution, and a large battery rating does not establish endurance under your particular workload.
The published dimensions also match: 170.12×78.42×8.8mm and 232g. Consider that size and weight alongside the battery capacity if one-handed use or carrying comfort matters to you.
Both specification sheets list a 50MP main camera and IP64 protection. Xiaomi cautions against immersing the phones, so splash resistance should not be read as permission for underwater use.
Read the RAM and charger footnotes
The reported Philippine launch versions have 4GB of physical RAM. Xiaomi’s global “up to 12GB” Memory extension claim is based on a 6GB version, so that maximum should not be applied to these local configurations without confirmation.
As our virtual RAM guide explains, expansion does not install more physical memory. Compare the installed RAM first, rather than treating a combined marketing number as equivalent hardware.
Charger contents need a separate local check. Both global specification sheets exclude a power adapter and say package contents can vary by region. They do not settle whether a Philippine retailer supplies a charger in the box or as a separate bundle.
Check the VIP Card terms before counting the savings
REVU reports an introductory VIP Card package with battery, screen and back-cover or camera-lens replacement benefits. Gadget Pilipinas also describes a conditional after-sales offer, including a 24-month quality-assurance benefit.
The complete official Philippine terms were not accessible during this check. Confirm eligible purchases, registration requirements and exclusions with the seller. A package’s advertised service value is different from a cash discount at checkout.
Frequently asked questions
How much cheaper is the 4G model?
It is ₱2,000 cheaper at both the reported SRPs and introductory prices. Compare like-for-like 4GB+128GB variants.
Are these REDMI Note 17 phones?
No. This launch coverage concerns REDMI 17 and REDMI 17 5G. Do not use Note-series specifications or offers when comparing them.
Does buying the 5G version increase physical RAM?
Not for the reported local launch configurations. Both have 4GB; the premium changes other parts of the hardware.
Why it matters
The useful comparison is the whole configuration at the price you will pay. A matching battery capacity does not make the two models identical, while a 5G label does not answer every performance question.
Start with whether an upgrade solves a real problem. Then compare the hardware, local bundle and service terms. For this launch, keeping SRP separate from introductory pricing and physical RAM separate from expansion gives buyers a clearer starting point.
