Pros & Cons

What we like

  • 7.4-inch 1080p OLED with 120Hz, VRR and 1,400 nits HDR peak
  • TMR joysticks and transforming D-pad that resist stick drift
  • Runs cooler than the ROG Xbox Ally X in published tests
  • 24GB RAM, 1TB SSD, USB4 and microSD Express
  • Full Windows 11 with the Xbox Full Screen Experience and all PC game stores

What we don’t

  • About $300 more than the ROG Xbox Ally X with the same chip
  • Heavier at 756 g
  • About 2 to 3 hours of battery in demanding games
  • No trackpad and Windows can feel clumsy on a handheld
  • Bundle-only in some European countries

The Pipino Verdict

The ROG Xbox Ally X20 is the Ryzen AI Z2 Extreme Ally X with a better screen, better sticks and cooler running, not a faster chip. It suits players who want the best OLED on a Windows handheld and accept the premium price. This is based on specs, brand data and published reviews, not our own hands-on testing.
