Claude Duet is Anthropic’s new proactive AI agent for preparing work across connected apps. The research preview starts with US Pro and Max subscribers through a waitlist. Philippine users are outside that initial access group, and Anthropic has not announced a local launch date.
Anthropic announced Duet on October 21. It is built around Claude Opus 5.5 and is available as a separate iOS and Android app, plus access through claude.ai, according to the company’s announcement.
What Claude Duet does
Anthropic’s product page describes an assistant that brings work to your attention. It can deliver a morning brief, draft next steps and take on tasks such as arranging meetings or building dashboards.
Memory, skills and connected apps from Claude carry over. That could reduce repeated setup for people already using the service, although it does not establish how reliably Duet will handle their work.
For a freelancer juggling client messages, the useful question is whether a brief identifies the right deadline and source. A polished summary has limited value if it mixes up clients or overlooks an important reply. Those are practical checks for a future hands-on test, rather than results TechPipino has measured.
Who can access the preview?
The official setup guide lists three requirements: a Pro or Max subscription, a Claude account in the US and a waitlist invitation. Team and Enterprise plans are not included yet.
For readers in the Philippines, paying for Pro or Max alone does not satisfy those requirements. Joining a waitlist also does not guarantee an invitation date.
Included access still uses your allowance
Duet has no separate fee during the preview, but it draws from the same usage limits as ordinary Claude conversations. Background work also counts. Users may therefore reach their limits sooner.
This makes usage another part of evaluating an agent. A recurring brief should save enough reading and preparation time to justify the allowance it consumes. Included access does not mean unlimited background work.
What needs approval, and what remains limited
Anthropic says Duet should seek approval before sending messages, paying, signing documents or deleting items. It also acknowledges that the early version can misread context or judge urgency incorrectly.
The distinction between drafting and submitting matters. TechPipino’s earlier coverage of Claude’s false police tip during testing explains why an AI-generated answer and an action on a real website carry different consequences. That incident is separate from this product launch.
Purchases have additional restrictions. Anthropic’s Link by Stripe guide says the integration requires a US payment method and approval of the amount in the Link app. It uses a one-time card tied to the purchase and cannot handle recurring payments through Link.
The setup guide also says users cannot watch or take over Duet’s browser. Accounts are checked at intervals, so an urgent message can arrive between checks.
Frequently asked questions
Is Claude Duet available in the Philippines?
The announced preview is US-only. Anthropic has not provided a Philippine release date in the launch materials reviewed.
Is Claude Duet a separate subscription?
During the preview, access is included with eligible Pro and Max plans. It shares their usage allowance.
Can Claude Duet keep working after I close the app?
Yes. Anthropic says Duet has its own virtual machine with a browser, so it does not need your laptop or phone to be on.
Why it matters
Duet extends the shift from asking AI for answers to asking it to prepare and manage work. Its value will depend on accuracy, useful notifications and clear approval requests, alongside the tasks it supports.
For Philippine readers following our AI coverage, regional access is the first constraint. The next questions are what background usage costs in practice and how much checking the finished work needs.
