Huawei has launched the Huawei Pura 90 Plus in China, bringing a 50MP main camera with a 1-inch-type sensor, a Kirin 9025 chipset and a 5,700mAh battery to its camera-focused smartphone lineup.
The phone starts at CNY 5,499 in China and is scheduled to go on sale there on October 31. Huawei has not confirmed a Philippine price or release date for the Pura 90 Plus as of October 29.
A large camera sensor with an adjustable aperture
The Pura 90 Plus puts photography at the center of its feature list. According to Huawei’s China specifications, the 50MP main camera combines a 1-inch-type sensor with optical image stabilization and a variable aperture ranging from f/1.6 to f/4.0.
The adjustable aperture gives the camera another way to control how much light enters the lens. A wider opening can help in dimmer conditions, while a narrower setting can give photographers more control over depth of field. The hardware sounds promising, but image quality will still depend on processing and real-world testing.
It is joined by a 48MP telephoto camera that also handles macro shots, plus a 40MP ultrawide camera. Huawei lists approximately 4x optical zoom and up to 100x digital zoom. That larger digital figure should not be confused with optical zoom.
There is also a 13MP ultrawide front camera for selfies and video calls.
Kirin 9025, 120Hz OLED and 100W charging
The Pura 90 Plus features a 6.8-inch LTPO OLED display with a 2,848 × 1,276 resolution and an adaptive refresh rate from 1Hz to 120Hz. Huawei lists second-generation Kunlun Glass for screen protection.
Inside is the Kirin 9025, paired with 12GB of RAM and a choice of 256GB, 512GB or 1TB of storage. Huawei’s specifications do not list memory card expansion.
The 5,700mAh battery supports up to 100W wired charging and 80W wireless charging. Those are maximum supported speeds, and Huawei says the appropriate charging equipment is needed to reach them. Wireless charging hardware is sold separately.
The China model runs HarmonyOS 7.0 and carries IP68 and IP69 dust and water resistance ratings. Water resistance can weaken with wear, so the rating is not a reason to treat the phone as waterproof.

Why it matters for Philippine buyers
The Pura 90 Plus looks like an interesting option for readers who prioritize camera hardware, particularly those who want both a large main sensor and a dedicated telephoto lens. Still, specifications alone cannot tell us how well it handles difficult lighting, moving subjects or video.
Anyone considering an imported China unit should also check network compatibility, warranty coverage and the apps they need before buying. The listed HarmonyOS 7.0 software applies to the China model; Huawei has not confirmed what software a possible Philippine version would use.
